Wow Renza. So frustrating. It is staggering how little insight and how much condescension some health professionals have. Good on you for standing up to it. And for posting this to help others. You go gurrrl! You are awesome. 💐

Well said Renza, totally agree with your comments about a judgmental world regarding diabetes. Wish it would change.

well said, & you are so articulate, it would be a funny story if it weren’t so serious 😉 I really hope there’s a happy ending to this and the GP concerned is reflective, open to learning and does visit here and it makes him an even better professional as a result – for the sake of all who come after you in that room.

Renza, I hate that this happened to you. I hate that you felt judged. BUT I hope the experience was eye opening for the GP. Perhaps he will visit your blog. Perhaps he will reframe his questions in the future. Perhaps he will get an eye opening look at life with diabetes. You may have changes the experience for other PWDs in the future because you had a converse with him.

Ugh another pet peeve of mine. I’ll listen to your video when I get home – don’t have headphones on me atm but I have to say I’ve heard similar comments about my diseases and it stings. Easy for anyone to say too who isn’t living with what we live with. Good on you for standing up for yourself!

I saw your video. I think you were very diplomatic given the way you were hounded even after telling the GP you were seeing an endocrinologist.

Thank you for sharing this. I am so sorry this happened to you. I would be in tears, too, had I had that conversation with any doctor. Thank you for standing up and speaking up. I can only hope that this GP learned something and will be more respectful to those in his care who live with diabetes. Thank you for vlogging this. (Love your vlogs!) Now I know how to speak up when it happens to me the next time.

Ohmagawd. This vlog was epic. I am so uninterested in health professionals offering unsolicited advice. Does anyone in the whole world like getting unsolicited advice, especially when it is critical?!
